Fall Inspired Brunch Party

The past few weeks, I’ve been doing a lot of hosting, toasting and traveling. Perhaps H&T needs a name change? (kidding!) After I returned home from my Homestead trip, I spent the next week prepping for fall work events and a fall-inspired brunch.

I co-hosted the brunch with my good friend Cori Sue at my house in Georgetown. After much discussion and re-scheduling the past few months, we finally found a Sunday that worked for the both of us and got to work on the details.

First & foremost, the menu. I worked with my friends at DC Taste to come up with a custom menu for the eight of us. We made sure to include the #basic elements of fall from pumpkin to apples and just about everything in between. It was nothing short of delicious and some of the items were even made gluten free for yours truly.

The Menu:

Scrambled Eggs with Spinach, Manchego & Brie

Mini Pumpkin Pancakes with Nutella filling & Maple Syrup

Apricot + Sage Glazed Sausage Links

Fresh Chopped Fruit Salad

Mini Fried Chicken + Sweet Potato Waffles

Maple-Glazed Bacon

Caramel Cinnamon Apple + Gingersnap Granola Yogurt Parfaits

Our friend Brie of Monumental Sweets also brought over some fall leave sugar cookies for everyone to indulge in (not that we didn’t have enough carbs to keep us full already). For beverages, we sipped on homemade apple cider (also from DC Taste), mimosas with Zardetto prosecco, hard sparkling apple cider from Eve’s Cider and freshly brewed coffee from Compass Coffee. There was also plenty of OJ and pellegrino to go around. I sometimes assume that just because I enjoy a lot of drink options that everyone else does too!

I set the table with pumpkins (fresh and Pottery Barn bought), a golf leaf tablecloth, gold chargers, a white ceramic coffee pot and a white ceramic pumpkin full of coffee fixings.

We arranged fresh orange roses from Urbanstems and spider mums that I picked up at the store in vases around the house. Each place setting had a different Moon & Lola mug from their new mug shop and of course, a champagne glass to accompany them (rimmed with cinnamon sugar for the hard sparkling cider).

Every place setting also had a custom Rewined champagne candle with either Cori Sue or I’s initials and the date on it (these would also be great customized bridesmaid gifts or wedding favors). I tied name cards to the candles as a favor for each guest to take home. Guests were also given a custom October print and thank you note from the hostesses. Dani from Drafts & Crafts worked on all the prints for us – aren’t they beautiful?

Special thank you again to all our partners on this brunch and our lovely friends for joining us.

Hopefully this will inspire a fall menu or party of your own!

I’m off to Boston today and hope to meet some of you with Carly tomorrow at our event.

It’s not too late to RSVP!

Hosting & Roasting: Glamping Guide

Today I am sharing a fun idea for summer weekends! My girl friends and I got together last weekend and wanted a lowkey “stay in” kind of evening. Instead of the normal “wine and movie” night, I suggested we do a little “glamping” (read: glamourous camping).

We gathered around the campfire (my stove) for some s’more roasting and red wine. Glamping is the perfect summer activity that brings you back to those girl scout days sans the wine out of mason jars.

Alas, below is my guide to perfect night!

P.S. If you don’t have a gas stove, use the oven to bake your s’mores instead!

Party Organically with VitaFrute Cocktails

Sometimes the most appealing night sounds like one that includes close girl friends sipping over cocktails from the comfort of my own home. Perhaps it’s because I do tend to over schedule my life but a “girls night in” during the summer months is one that is much appreciated by yours truly between trips and traveling!

That’s also why this past week I was so excited when my girl friend, Brie and I ordered in our favorite local tacos and sipped on homemade libations from VitaFrute Organic Cocktails by VEEV.

For those of you not familiar with these amazing drinks, they are the first line of organic and all-natural ready-to-drink cocktails. You just shake, pour over ice and toast! Every cocktail is also under 125 calories, which is quite appreciated in the summer months where you might post up poolside a time or two (I know I do!). You can truly “Party Organically”!

Our drink of choice that evening was the Margarita cocktail (paired perfectly with tacos) with fresh basil salt on the rim and fresh limes.

To Make Your Own:

1. Pour VitaFrute Margarita cocktail in a glass with ice.

2. Rim the glass with fresh basil salt.

3. Slice limes and add for garnish!

However, we also made custom little VitaFrute “flights” to sample all the flavors – Coconut Colada , Lemonade and Cosmopolitan too. I personally enjoyed the Coconut Colada which is made with coconut water and their newest flavor. It also provides the benefits of coconut water and contains electrolytes. Brie loved the lemonade.

Setting up flights like we did is also perfect for a “girls night in”. You can then allow everyone to pick their drink of choice from the flights to make a larger cocktail version.

The best news is that you can also enter VitaFrute’s Ultimate Summer Party Sweepstakes and win a sponsored labor day party by VEEV and Evite for you and 30 friends. From decor to cocktails, you’ll receive all the necessary details to host AND toast come September.

To Enter: Pin your favorite party tips for easy entertaining from now until August 15th HERE.

There will also be 10 runner up prizes of the Ultimate Hostess Cocktail Kit (which includes a cocktail cart and mason jars). This is essentially the contest of any hostess or party-goer dreams!

Don’t forget to also follow VitaFrute Cocktails by VEEV on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and of course, Pinterest!

Summertime Dessert

While these might not be the most flattering photos, I assure you this little recipe has quickly become my favorite dessert for those warmer evenings that are now upon us.

If you’re like me,  you probably enjoy tasting “dessert wines” at wineries but have no clue what to actually use them for. For some of us, one full glass might be a little overkill so why not drizzle on some ice cream? My simple recipe is below!

Vanilla Ice Cream

Chocolate Chips

Raspberry Wine (or any other dessert fruit wine flavor – to drizzle on top)

Oh yes and mason jars, stemless wine classes & mini spoons (completely optional, especially because I’m over mason jars, right?)

These also make for the perfect little “nightcap”.  Enjoy!
